John started making pots in high school outside of Chicago, Illinois. He then attended Ball State University where he studied with Marvin Reichle. In 1968 John started the Bethel Pike Pottery with Allan Patrick. Four years later he started his own studio, The John Peterson Pottery, located north of Muncie, Indiana. For four decades John has made a commitment to making well designed functional pots. John sells his work through his studio, several galleries, and select craft shows.
